Demo: Twin Peaks Library search tool

DescriptionThe Twin Peaks project is an experiment in providing a search and one click selection of library electronic resources from within the Sakai authoring tool. We'll be demonstrating the currently developed interim tool that provides searching of either EBSCO Academic Preimer, ERIC, or the IU Libaries SFX enhanced online catalog's electronic holdings.
Demo: Berkeley Grade Book Pilot

Description: The UC Berkeley gradebook (demoed at the last Sakai conference) is now in pilot on the Berkeley campus as a stand alone tool. This Fall, in preparation for a Sakai integration, the user interface is being redone to match the style guide, the specifications fleshed out for a few additional requirements, and several framework requirements are being implemented. Over the winter and spring, the gradebook will be refactored for integration into the Sakai framework and with SAMigo.

Description: The Knowledge Exchange Exhibition Presentation (KEEP) Toolkit is a set of web-based tools that help students, faculty and institutions quickly create succinct, appealing and engaging reflective ePorfolios on the Web. We'll be demonstrating how the next version of the Toolkit will be working in the SAKAI environment.
Demo: Contextual Resource Evaluation Environment (CREE) project

Description: The CREE project has developed a series of portlets using the JSR 168 and WSRP standards in order to facilitate testing with users over how they would like to have search tools presented to them within a portal. These portlets have been developed around existing search tools and open up the possibility of surfacing existing resources and tools in a range of contextual environments.
Demo: Open Source Portfolio Initiative (OSPI)

Description: The OSPI is a community of individuals and organizations collaborating on the development of the leading non-proprietary, open source electronic portfolio software available. The Open Source Portfolio software is individual centric enabling users to gather work products and other artifacts to be stored and shared with others but more importantly to be used for personal growth and development. The ePortfolio toolset is being developed on the Sakai infrastructure providing a stand alone application as well as an integration of rich portfolio tools in the full suite of Sakai applications
Demo: Grad Tools

Description: Grad Tools, a component of CTools, provides doctoral students a way of tracking their degree progress from the point of choosing an advisor to degree conferral. Doctoral students create their own site, which contains an automatically personalized dissertation checklist based on data from their department and from the graduate school. Students control access to their Grad Tools site, and use collaboration features common to CTools, including file storage, group email, email notification, structured discussion, and more.

Description: The LessonBuilder is a framework for authoring and content tools. These are easy to use authoring tools that generate sophisticated content, using a step-by-step form based UI. The content includes text, images, audio, and video, as well as embedded assessments. We will demo LB 1.0 and talk about ConceptTutor 1.0, as well as other projects with have on the drawing board.
Demo: Melete/ETUDES-NG– Online Lesson Authoring Tool

Description: Melete, an online lesson authoring environment, is the classroom component of ETUDES (Easy to Use Distance Education Software) that is being rewritten in Java for ETUDES-NG (Sakai-based). Melete offers instructors the ability to author online learning modules using built-in templates and an editor, or import (or link to) existing learning assets, like ppt or Flash. Instructors can author modules that have multiple continuation content sections; the system implements user-friendly layout and navigation automatically. Originally developed to meet online course delivery and course management needs, Melete features extra controls to assist online teachers/learners, such as the ability to set prerequisites and the pacing of material.

Description: Leveraging the functionality of the IU Knowledge Base, IU is facilitating a collaborative effort with the other core and SEPP institutions to deliver an up-to-date and responsive Sakai Knowledge Base. We'll be demonstrate the Sakai KB including opporunities for input and contribution.
