As 2010 gets rolling.....

Michael Feldstein just posted some great information on tracking the Sakai Foundation activities on his blog. I also wanted to point out that I've started a "Sakai Foundation Goals and Activities" wiki page that (hopefully!) provides a framework for putting a lot of the particulars into context. It certainly needs more work and I will invest the time to make it easier to understand -- if people find it useful, that is.

As for me, I'm focused on the following in the short term:

  • A membership/fundraising push. We haven't really had a strong push in this area for a few years so its about time. I'll be providing more detail about Foundation finances this in a webinar that I plan to hold later this month.
  • Recruiting more resource for the Sakai 3 effort (project manager, anyone?) and supporting Clay and others on the Sakai 3 Design work.
  • Working on rebuilding the Sakai 3 slides and white paper, which are in need of a substantial refresh. And a new screencast as well.
  • Building a communications plan for 2010 with Pieter Hartsook.
  • Helping get the planning process for the 11th Sakai Conference in Denver rolling.
  • Monitoring the progress of the 2.7 release, which is in the capable hands of Alan Berg and Anthony Whyte.
  • Trying to find external board member candidates with financial expertise. If you have someone to suggest I'd be appreciative.
  • Planning my travel. Right now I've got the Connexions Conference in Houston and the Sakai Europe Conference in Valencia on the books. I'm also trying to find a time to visit Indiana (I had to cancel a set of meetings there when I got sick) and to get the Foundation staff together. I'm also taking a week of vacation for my mother-in-law's important milestone birthday (not saying which one). You can track my travels on TripIt, which I highly recommend for anyone who travels with any frequency.

You know where to find me if you have any questions.....
